WE HAVE SOLD OUT!!!

STAR PETALS FLOWER SHOP

Thank you for taking the time to read and find out about a great educational project beginning at our school.  Over the next few weeks, our 3rd grade students are going to have the opportunity to help develop a small flower business.  We are amazed how eager the children are to manage and run a small business.  It's incredible how easily business concepts are understood by children.  They are natural entrepreneurs.  We are also aware that a lot of their motivation to learn and understand comes from the great desire to earn a paycheck they get to cash and spend on our fieldtrip to the bank and the mall!  Not only are the kids going to receive personal benefits, but they will also contribute to a local charity.
Students unload 2 generous donations of soil from Neighborhood Market and the Springdale Wal-Mart.
Students write letters to potential investors.  Once someone has bought Star Petals stock, a Stock Certificate is mailed to them.  Students will keep investors up-to-date on how the business is going.
The flowers are here!!
Students collect small rocks to put in the bottom of each pot.
After some instruction, it's time to get a little dirty!!
Now we are ready to plant the flowers.
All that is left for today is to add a little water.
The Star Petal employees listened as Ms. Linda & Ms. Dolores ,from Liberty Bank, explain to them about writing checks and keeping a check register.
It is time to make the gift tags.
We have begun taking orders.

We are keeping a record of all our debits and credits.

The flowers are looking so good!!
STAR PETALS IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS!
After all that hard work, it was finally time to get paid.  Star Petal Employees went to Liberty Bank for a tour and to CASH their paychecks!!!
Then, it was to the Northwest Arkansas Mall for some shopping and lunch at the Food Court.
Star Petals was a huge success.  3rd grade would like to thank all their investors who helped get it started.  They would also like to thank everyone who bought hanging baskets.  They couldn't have learned so much without you!!
